This is a collection of USS Guadalcanal and Persian Gulf  stories from 1987 when the USS Guadalcanal was performing mine sweeping operations in the Gulf. All of the footage pertains to the mine laying or the political climate in the region during that time.

About Me

I joined the crew on the USS Guadalcanal in the fall of 1986 as a non-designated SN. My initial duty was in the laundry working with a great group of guys. After that, I worked in Deck Department for a few years, eventually becoming the DCPO in charge of maintaining the onboard fire stations. I was in Deck Department during the Persian Gulf adventure and during that trip did on the job training in the photo lab where I eventually was able to strike and become a PH3 (now a non-existent rate).

I left the Guad late in 1989 and joined the reserves at Whidbey Island NAS where I cross-rated to IS. My most memorable years in the reserves were serving with a SEAL unit out of Seattle and I ended up leaving the reserves as an IS1 in 1998.
